Yellow leaves? Put the fertiliser down for a moment.

One colour can have more than one explanation.

01

Notice the pattern

Is it one old lower leaf, the newest growth, or the whole plant? Record when it started and whether the rest of the plant looks healthy. Older leaves can yellow naturally.

02

Widen the search

Wet roots, dry conditions, pests, disease and nutrient problems are among the possibilities. Check moisture, drainage and both sides of the leaves. Yellow is a symptom, not a diagnosis.

03

Choose the next question

Avoid guessing a fertiliser dose from colour alone. Photograph the pattern and seek crop-specific advice if it spreads. A record of recent weather and care makes that conversation more useful.

A closer look comes before another treatment.
